Dear ECC Families,

I can’t believe it’s already June! I wanted to update you on the start time for September. All preschool classes will start at 8:35. Please make sure you don’t arrive prior to 8:30 since we want to make sure the arrivals of the upper-grade students run as smoothly as possible. Dismissal will remain at the same time of 2:30 to allow sufficient time for families to pick up siblings from other schools.

We will have an open house in September at which we will review drop-off and pick-up procedures, and you will have an opportunity to tour your child’s classroom. Once the date is confirmed, I will send an email.

The End of Year celebration will take place on June 9th. Please see your child’s classroom teacher for details of the start time.

Good luck to all of our families and students leaving us for kindergarten. For those returning in September, we look forward to seeing you soon.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at

All the Best,

Paula H.Sicignano, Ed.D.

Dear ECC Families,

I wanted to update you all on the changes that will be made in the 2017-18 academic year.

During last night’s ECC meeting, Mr. Garrido informed us that we will not be moving to trailers and that space has been found in each of the three elementary schools.

Sherman School will be the new home of the PSD program. Miss Casale will remain the teacher.

Robert Gordan will be the new home of the full-day program. Miss Bury will be the classroom teacher.

Aldene will be the new home of the am/pm session. Miss Ripka will be the classroom teacher. If you would prefer am or pm session, please let me know.

Families will still have the option of before- and after-school care.

Tuition will remain the same: $350.00 per month for the half-day am/pm sessions and $700.00 a month for the full day.

We are in the process of finalizing the class roster, and I will send you an email regarding placement next week together with a survey to elicit your opinions on arrival and dismissal times and any concerns and suggestions you may have, etc.

I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Paula H.Sicignano

The Roselle Park John J. Adase Early Childhood Center believes in Creative Curriculum:

Children learn best by doing.

Our goal is for each child to become an independent, self-confident, active learner in the following areas of development:

Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of the group.

Emotional: To help children experience pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life.

Physical: To help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.

To help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.

The Early Childhood Center also incorporates the program, Handwriting Without Tears and uses this sequence when teaching students their letters.  The program also uses a multi-sensory approach to teaching letter sounds.
